Why we’re losing jobs to robots
Humans are being replaced by robots at a faster rate than ever before, a new study shows.
The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics said Tuesday that robots have replaced about 9.4 million jobs since the beginning of the year.
The BLS said it will use the data to calculate the nation’s total unemployment rate for this year, which will be published on Wednesday.
BLS Director Richard Rosenbloom said in a statement that the bureau’s latest numbers show that job loss has been more than double the overall rate of unemployment since 2009.
It’s the first time that the U.K. and Germany are in a close race to replace human workers with robots.
